Version 1.0.0 · Works on Android 8.0 and newer

2 What to do after tapping Download

  1. 1
Wait for the file to finish downloading
A small notification will appear at the top of your screen when it's done. The file is called HairVia.apk.
You'll see: A progress bar, then a "Download complete" notification.
  2. 2
Tap the downloaded file to open it
You can tap the notification directly, or open your Files / My Files app, find the Download folder, and tap HairVia.apk.
  3. 3
Allow the install (this is safe)
Android will ask if you trust this source. Tap Settings, turn on "Allow from this source", then go back and tap Install.
Why the warning? Android shows this for any app not from the Play Store. HairVia is in pilot — we'll be on Play Store soon. Read why this is safe.
  4. 4
    Wait for "App installed"
    Tap Open to launch HairVia.
  5. 5
    Sign up or sign in
If you're a salon owner: tap "I manage a salon" and sign up with your email.
If you're staff or a client: your salon will send you an activation link or code.
✓ You're done — welcome to HairVia!

💡 Common problems & solutions

I can't find the file after downloading
Open your Files or My Files app. Look in the Download folder. The file is called HairVia.apk. If you still can't find it, search for "HairVia" in your file manager. As a last resort, tap the Android download button again — the browser usually pops up a "Download complete → Open" banner.
My phone says "App not installed" or won't install
This usually means one of three things:
  1. You need to allow installs from your browser (Chrome). Go to Settings → Apps → Chrome → Install unknown apps and turn it on.
  2. Your phone is on an older Android version. HairVia needs Android 8.0 or newer.
  3. You don't have enough storage. Free up ~50 MB and try again.
Why does Android warn me about this app?
Android shows a warning for any app not installed from the Google Play Store. This isn't because HairVia is unsafe — it's Android's default policy for apps in pilot or beta. Our app is:
  • Built by HairVia LLC, a registered US company
  • Hosted on expo.dev, the same platform used by apps like Coinbase and Shopify
  • In the process of being submitted to the Play Store — we expect approval within a few weeks
Once we're on the Play Store, this warning will go away.
I don't have the activation code my salon sent me
Check your email inbox (and spam folder) for a message from noreply@hairviaapp.com. If you still can't find it, ask your salon to resend the activation email, or scan the salon's QR code using the "I'm a client" option in the app.
First time on iPhone? You'll need TestFlight.

iPhone apps in pilot are distributed through Apple's free TestFlight app. It only takes one extra step. The button below walks you through it.

Step 1: Tap the button below

This opens TestFlight and adds HairVia to your iPhone.

Open the HairVia invite

Via TestFlight · Works on iPhone (iOS 15.1+)

2 What to do after tapping Open

  1. 1
If you don't have TestFlight, install it first
You'll be taken to the App Store to download TestFlight by Apple. It's free. Tap Get or the cloud icon, then Open.
Why TestFlight? Apple requires it for apps that aren't yet in the App Store. HairVia will be in the App Store soon — until then, TestFlight is how you get the app.
  2. 2
    Accept the HairVia invite
TestFlight will show you a "HairVia" invitation. Tap Accept. If it doesn't open automatically, come back to this page and tap the download button again.
  3. 3
    Install HairVia
In TestFlight, tap Install next to "HairVia." Wait for it to finish (about 10 seconds).
You'll see: A progress circle, then an Open button next to HairVia.
  4. 4
    Open HairVia
Tap Open in TestFlight, or find the HairVia icon on your home screen and tap it.
  5. 5
    Sign up or sign in
If you're a salon owner: tap "I manage a salon" and sign up with your email.
If you're staff or a client: your salon will send you an activation link or code.
✓ You're done — welcome to HairVia!

💡 Common problems & solutions

TestFlight says "Redeem code" — I don't have a code
You don't need a redeem code. You have a public invite link. Close TestFlight, come back to this page, and tap the "Open the HairVia invite" button again. This time TestFlight should show an Accept button.
TestFlight says "This beta is full"
Apple limits TestFlight to 10,000 testers per app. If you hit this, email support@hairviaapp.com and we'll personally invite you as an internal tester.
HairVia shows a white screen when I open it
Close the app fully (swipe up from the bottom and swipe HairVia away). Open it again. If it still shows white, reinstall: TestFlight → HairVia → Delete, then reinstall from TestFlight. If it still happens, email support@hairviaapp.com with a screenshot — we can see the error logs.
I don't have the activation code my salon sent me
Check your email inbox (and spam folder) for a message from noreply@hairviaapp.com. If you still can't find it, ask your salon to resend the activation email, or scan the salon's QR code using the "I'm a client" option in the app.
